Setting the Rules for Using the Oracle Send Command

By default, the software uses the RMAN SEND command to send the parameters from the generated RMAN script.

An RMAN script is created:

  • By the Commvault software based on the options a user selects in the CommCell Console

  • By a user to configure, back up or restore the Oracle data

The RMAN script can have lines that define the media parameters (for example the "allocate channel" or "ENV").

If the lines have more characters than Oracle recommends, use the SEND command.

When you set this additional setting to 'Y", the software uses the RMAN SEND command to send the parameters from the generated RMAN script.

When you set this additional setting to 'N', the software does not use the RMAN SEND command.

For more information on the Oracle SEND command, go to the Oracle documentation website, SEND.
