During the backup of any virtual machine, a snapshot of the virtual machine gets created on its storage domain. If the storage domain of any virtual machine does not have sufficient space for snapshots, the backup job completes with one or more errors. Before performing the backup, you can set a threshold of required free space. If a storage domain does not have the required free space, the software does not back up the virtual machines residing in that storage domain.
Procedure
Follow the steps given below to set the threshold for free space on a storage domain:

From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers > virtualization_client > Virtual Server > RedHat > backup_set.

Right-click a subclient and click Properties.

Click the Backup Options tab.

Select Perform Storage Domain Freespace Check.

In the Storage Domain freespace required box, enter the threshold value. By default, the threshold is set to 10%.

Click OK.
When you perform the backup of the subclient, a virtual machine is skipped from the backup if its storage domain does not have the required free space. If a virtual machine has disks on multiple storage domains, and if any one storage domain does not have the required free space, the virtual machine is skipped from the backup.
This threshold applies to storage domains for all virtual machines in the subclient.
Note
To perform a backup of skipped virtual machines, select the Backup failed VMs only option on the Advanced > Data tab of the subclient properties; then perform an incremental backup for the subclient. For more information, see Backing Up Failed Virtual Machines.
Before performing the incremental backup, ensure that sufficient free space is available on the storage domains of all virtual machines.
