Snapshots During Dell EMC VPLEX Migration

Updated

You can use the Commvault software to specify a backend array to create snapshots during local migration of Dell EMC VPLEX data within the same cluster. You can also use the Commvault software to manage the snapshots that are created.

For information about extent migration and device migration, go to the Dell EMC site and search for "Dell EMC VPLEX extent migration and Dell EMC VPLEX device migration".

Requirements

  • The source virtual volume must have a simple virtual volume configuration, such as 1 storage volume, 1 extent, 1 device, and 1 virtual volume.

  • The target configuration can have one of the following:

    • For extent migration: 1 storage volume, 1 extent

    • For device migration: 1 storage volume, 1 extent, 1 device

  • The target device must not contain a volume.
