Verifying the Default Configurations - Storage Pool

After setting up the HyperScale 1.5 Appliance the Storage Pool is configured. The storage pool configuration can be viewed as follows:

Procedure

  1. From the navigation, click Storage > Storage Pools.

    The Storage Pool page appears.

  2. From the Storage Pools page, click the name of the Storage Pool that you want to view.

    HyperScale storage pools are classified as Scale-Out in the Type column.

    Verify the Storage Pool configuration. The following information is displayed:

Device Path

The path of the disk storage area in which the data will be stored.

Total Capacity

The total storage capacity of the selected Storage Pool.

Free Space

The total free space available in the storage pool.

Total Application Size

The total amount of data that is backed up on the Storage Pool.

Size on Disk

The total amount of data stored on the disk after deduplication and compression.

Status

The status of the storage pool - whether the storage pool is online or offline.

In the Nodes area, click the name of the specific node. The following information is displayed:

Status

The status of the node - whether the node is online or offline and is healthy.

Disks

Mount Path

The path where the data is written to and read from.

Serial number

The serial number of the disk.

Vendor

The name of the vendor.

Product

The name of the product.

File system

The file system on the node.

Capacity

The total storage capacity of the selected node.

Disk I/O Test

The status of the disk I/O - success or failure.

S.M.A.R.T status

(Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology)

The reliability status of the hard drive as reported by S.M.A.R.T.

Applicable for HyperScale 1.5 Appliance and not applicable for HyperScale Reference Architecture.

In the Deduplication database area, the following information is displayed:

Deduplication savings

The savings percentage after deduplication.

Number of partitions

The number of partition(s) configured for the DDB (deduplication database).

Status

The status of the DDB.

Resiliency/Redundancy

Configuration type

The configuration type that was specified when the Storage pool was added. See Adding a Storage pool for more information.

Number of nodes per block

The total number of nodes.

Disperse factor

Disperse factor is based on erasure codes, providing space-efficient protection against disk or server failures.

Redundancy factor

The number of nodes which can be down without affecting the data protection operations. By default this is set to 2. This number is proportional to Nodes per Block.

In the Deduplication database area, click Details.... The following information is displayed:

Storage policy

The name of the storage policy to which the DDB is attached.

Total Application Size

The total size of data (files, folders, and so on) that was backed up using the DDB.

Size on disk

The total size of data stored on the disk after deduplication and compression.

Deduplication savings

The savings percentage after deduplication.

Status

The status of the DDB partitions - whether the DDB partitions are online or offline.

DDB partitions information

MediaAgent

The name of the MediaAgent hosting the DDB.

Path

The DDB path on the MediaAgent.

Capacity

The total storage capacity available for the partition.

Free space

The total free space available for the partition.

Status

The status of the specific partition - whether the partition is online or offline.
