The backup and restore capabilities listed in the following tables are available for DB2 MultiNode.

  • Streaming:

    • Full backups

  • IntelliSnap:

    • Full backups

When you can perform backups

  • On a schedule. You can have multiple schedules for each database group.

  • Immediately

Restore Capabilities

Time periods from which you can restore data

  • From the most recent backup

  • From a specific date/time

Destinations that you can restore data to

  • In-place: You can restore data to the same client and the same location

  • Out-of-place: You can restore data to the following different destinations:

    • A different client

    • A different path on the same client

    • A different database on the same client

    • A different instance on the same client

Redirect restore

  • For a non-automatic storage database

  • For an automatic storage database

  • For a mixed storage database

What Is Backed Up

  • DB2 MultiNode system databases

  • DB2 MultiNode user databases

  • DB2 MultiNode databases (data and logs)

What Is Not Backed Up

You can use a file server to back up the following content, which is not included in the backup data of DB2 MultiNode databases:

  • Operating system data

  • DB2 MultiNode application files
