Moving Files in File Storage Optimization

At the data source level, you can move groups of files or individual files.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Activate.

    The Activate page appears.

  2. Under File Storage optimization, click File storage optimization.

    The File storage optimization page appears.

  3. On the Servers tab, in the Actions column, click the action button , and then click Quick view.

    The quick view dialog box appears.

  4. In the Data source column, click the data source.

    On the Discover tab, the data source dashboard page appears.

  5. Select the files that you want to move:

    • To move a group of files, use a dashboard to give you the best view of the files:

      1. From the dashboard list, select a dashboard.

        For example, to move duplicate files, select the File duplicates dashboard.

      2. Use the dashboard tiles to filter the files.

        For example, to only move larger files, in the file ownership Size tile, select the Above 5 GB check box.

    • To select from a list of individual files, on the Review tab, select the files that you want to move.

      If the data source is a NetApp filer with monitoring enabled, file monitoring information is available in the right-hand pane.

  6. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Move files.

    The Move files and folders dialog box appears and lists the number of files and folders that will be moved.

  7. In the Destination path box, type the destination path in one of the following formats:

    • \\FQDN_of_the_computer\share_name

    • \\IP_address\share_name

  8. In the User name box and Password box, type the credentials needed to access the destination path.

  9. Click Submit.
