To get started with RDS databases, obtain your user credentials, set up the Command Center, complete the database setup wizard, configure the entities, and then perform a test backup and a restore.
Step 1: Obtain Your User Credentials to Access the Command Center
Obtain the following information from your administrator:
The Command Center URL
Your Command Center user credentials
If the Command Center is not set up in your CommCell environment, contact your administrator to deploy the Command Center. For more information, see Quick Start Guide.
Step 2: Log On to the Command Center
Accessing the Command Center by using the URL and user account credentials that you obtained from the administrator.
Step 3: Complete the Database Application Setup Wizard
Configure the database application by completing the Database Setup Wizard.
In the setup wizard, you add a backup server plan. The plan defines how often the software backs up the database and where it stores the backups. You can add the default server plan that was created during the core setup or create a new plan.
Note: To create a new plan, you need the Plan Creator Role assigned to your user account.
Step 4: Configure a Proxy Client Computer
Add a Windows or Linux file server with the Virtual Server package installed. For more information, see Adding an Additional Server.
Supported platforms for the proxy client include the following:
Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019
Linux Centos 7, RHEL 7, and Amazon Linux 2 64-bit
Step 5: Create a Cloud Database Instance for Amazon RDS
Create a new cloud database instance for Amazon RDS using an existing cloud account or a new cloud account.

Step 6: Perform Your First Backup and Restore
Your first full backup is automatically scheduled based on the assigned plan. To perform a manual backup, see Backing Up an Instance Group.
After the backup operation is complete, perform a restore. For more information, see Restoring an Amazon RDS Instance.
