Collecting Offline Data for Cloud Metrics Reporting

Updated

If you want to use Cloud Metrics Reporting, but your CommCell cannot connect to the Internet, you can upload report data directly to the Cloud Services Portal.

Before You Begin

  • Enable data collection for Private Metrics Reporting on the CommServe computer.

  • Register your product and create a user account for the Cloud Services Portal.

You must have a user account on the Cloud Services website. To create a user account, register your CommServe computer. If you already have a user account, you still might need to register your CommServe computer. For instructions, see Register Your Product.

Procedure

  1. Copy the most recent files from the Metrics Server (both the .xml and all corresponding .csv files) that are located in software_installation_path\Commvault\ContentStore\Reports\MetricsUpload\Upload\Archive and save the files on a computer where you can access the internet.

    Important:

    • Include both an .xml file and all of the corresponding .csv files. For example, if you include an .xml file like CSS1595554231_108FE4.xml, then you must also include .csv files like the following:

      • CSS1595554231_108FE4_F3ABC449-66F2-49A8-AF48-4A8FFC65B9F6_216.csv

      • CSS1595554231_108FE4_F3ABC449-66F2-49A8-AF48-4A8FFC65B9F6_245.csv

    • Exclude .xml files and .txt files with a number appended to the CommCell ID. For example, exclude .xml and .txt files like the following:

      • CSS1595561499_108FE4_137.xml.txt

      • CSS1595561499_108FE4_137.xml

  2. On the computer where you saved the files, open a web browser and go to Upload Metrics Data.

  3. Log on to the Cloud Services Portal using your Cloud Services Portal login and password.

  4. In the CommCell ID box, type the CommCell ID for the CommServe computer where the data was collected.

  5. Under Files, click Browse, and select the .xml files that you need to upload.

To select multiple files, hold down the Ctrl key while you click each file.

  6. Click Upload Now.
