Migrating Oracle EBS to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

Move your on-site Oracle EBS to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

The Commvault software moves Oracle EBS from the nodes to the cloud by automatically performing the following operations:

• Provisioning the compute nodes (VMs) on the cloud for the Database Tier node and the Application Tier node.

• Provisioning the compute node storage to accommodate the Oracle EBS data and the application.

• Configuring the data protection software on the source and destination to handle the application data movement to the cloud.

• Replicating incremental changes when needed. For example, the software replicates any changes that were made after the start of migration.

• Validating the data after migration.

You can specify non-default directories on the Database Tier node and the Application Tier nodes where the Commvault software installs the database and the application. We recommend that you review the Oracle EBS directory structure. For more information, go to the Oracle documentation website, Oracle E-Business Suite File System.

Before You Begin

1. Create a recovery target for application migration. For more information, see Creating a Recovery Target.

2. Verify that you have the information about your Oracle EBS configuration:

   • The Oracle EBS service name

   • The Database Application node information:

     • The Oracle EBS system password

     • The Oracle EBS sys password

   • The following Application Tier node information:

     • The applmgr user name password

     • The WebLogic server user name and password

Procedure

1. From the navigation page, click Solutions > Oracle EBS, in the Actions column for the Oracle EBS, click the action button , and then click Migrate to cloud.

   The Oracle EBS migration page appears.

2. On the Source details page specify the cloud destination information.

   1. In the Destination EBS app name box, type the Oracle EBS name

   2. From the Cloud type list, select Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

   3. From the Provisioning Policy list, select the lifecycle policy.

3. Click Next.

   The Compute node page appears.

4. Specify the compute node information.

   Compute nodes are the destination cloud VMs that host the Database Tier node and the Application Tier nodes. You can choose to have the Commvault software create additional nodes on the destination. If you do not want to change the node configuration, then you do not need to take any action on this page.

   If you chose to use an existing Oracle cloud compute, then you do not need to take any action on this page.

   If you chose to use a new node,specify the node information

   1. Click Add compute node.

      The Add compute node dialog box appears.

   2. In the Node name box, type a unique name for the node.

   3. From the Image list, select the type of Oracle image to use for the node.

   4. From the Shape list, select the Oracle node shape.

   5. In the Node type section, select the check box for the node type, such as Application.

   6. To add storage, click Add storage, and then in the Add storage dialog box, specify the storage information such as the mount point. Click OK.

   7. Click OK.

5. Optional:Modify the size, shape or storage for an existing node. In the row for the node, click the edit button.

   The Update compute node dialog box appears.

   1. In the Node name box, type a unique name for the node.

   2. From the Image list, select the type of Oracle image to use for the node.

   3. From the Shape list, select the Oracle node shape.

   4. In the Node type section, select the check box for the node type, such as Application.

   5. To add storage, click Add storage, and then in the Add storage dialog box, specify the storage information such as the mount point. Click OK.

   6. Click OK.

6. Click Next.

   The DB node page appears.

7. Specify the Database node information.

   1. In the Service name box, type the Oracle EBS service name.

   2. In the System password box, type the Oracle EBS system password.

   3. In the Sys password box, type the Oracle sys password.

   4. If you do not want to use the default directories for the node, then click the edit button .

      The Update db node dialog box appears.

      1. To change the name,in the Node name box, type the updated name.

      2. To change the Oracle base install directory, in the Database base directory box, type the full directory path.

      3. To change the Oracle home directory, in the Database home directory box, type the full directory path.

      4. To change the Oracle utilities directory, in the UTIL file dir box, type the full directory path.

      5. Click OK.

8. Click Next.

   The App node page appears.

9. Specify the information for the Application Tier.

   1. In the Apps username box and Apps password boxes, type the user credentials for the APPS user.

   2. In the Weblogic username box and Weblogic password boxes, type the user credentials for the Oracle EBS WebLogic server user.

   3. If you do not want to use the default directories for the node, then click the edit button .

      The Update app node dialog box appears.

      1. To change the name,in the Node name box, type the updated name.

      2. To change the Oracle application base install directory, in the Apps base box, type the full directory path.

      3. To change the Oracle APPL_TOP directory, in the Apps top dir box, type the full directory path.

      4. To change the Oracle COMMON_TOP directory, in the Common top dir directory box, type the full directory path.

      5. To change the Oracle stack tool directory, in the Tool oracle home dire box, type the full directory path.

      6. To change the location of the Oracle forms directory, in the FMW HOME box, type the full directory path.

      7. To change the Oracle $INST_TOP directory, in the Instance top dir box, type the full directory path.

      8. Click OK.

10. Click Next.

    The Refresh options page appears.

11. Specify scripts to run before or after migration such as validating the data.

    • To run a script before the Commvault software migrates the data, specify the following information:

      1. In the Script path box, type the full path to the script location.

      2. From the Execute script on list select the Commvault client that where the software runs the script.

    • To run a script after the Commvault migration job completes, specify the following information:

      1. In the Script path box, type the full path to the script location.

      2. From the Execute script on list select the Commvault client that where the software runs the script.

12. Click Next.

    The Firewall configuration page appears.

13. Specify the firewall options.

    • Select the There is a firewall between client machine and CommServe check box.

    • If you use have a proxy server, then select the following options:

      • Select CommServe is reachable only through proxy.

      • In the Local HTTP/HTTPS tunnel box, type the port that you configured for the firewall, for example, 443.

      • From the Proxy Client Name list, select the proxy server.

    • If you have a one-way firewall topology, then select Client machines can open connection to CommServe on tunnel port.

14. Click Finish.
