Adding a DB2 MultiNode Subclient

The system creates a default data subclient and a default log subclient when you add a database to the Commvault instance. You can create additional subclients for tablespaces that frequently change or have a different backup schedule than the entire DB2 MultiNode database.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. Click the instance.

    The instance page appears.

  3. In the Databases section, click the database.

    The database page appears.

  4. On the Overview tab, in the Subclients section, click Add subclient.

    The Add subclient dialog box appears.

  5. In the Subclient name box, enter a name for the subclient.

  6. Select the data to include in backups:

    • To back up an entire online database, do the following:

      1. Select the Data backup check box.

      2. Select the Online option button.

    • To back up a subset of an online database, do the following:

      1. Select the Data backup check box.

      2. Select the Online option button.

      3. Select the Online subset check box.

      4. Select the table spaces to back up.

    • To back up an entire offline database, do the following:

      1. Select the Data backup check box.

      2. Select the Offline option button.

    • To back up a subset of an offline database, do the following:

      1. Select the Data backup check box.

      2. Select the Offline option button.

      3. Select the Online subset check box.

      4. Select the table spaces to back up.

  7. To back up the archive logs, do the following:

    1. Select the Back up archive logs check box.

    2. To delete the logs after successful backups, select the Delete archive logs check box.

  8. To change the number of partition streams, on the right area of the page, click Edit.

    The Edit streams dialog appears.

    1. In the Number of backup streams per node box, enter the number of partition streams to use for each partition.

    2. Click OK.

  9. Click Save.
