To prepare for disaster recovery of your Kubernetes environment, perform periodic backups of the etcd snapshot.db file. First, use the etcdctl utility to get a snapshot of snapshot.db. Then, use the Commvault software to back up the snapshot to an off-host computer.
When you use the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) to protect Kubernetes Control Plane nodes and etcd database. For information, see System Requirements for Kubernetes Access Nodes. Commvault supports a broad range of Linux distributions and releases in combination with the underlying virtualization hypervisor.
If etcd is protected directly with a file system agent installed on the control plane nodes (which is feasible but not recommended), Commvault supports a broad range of UNIX/Linux operating system distributions and releases. For information, see UNIX and Windows File Servers.
