Creating a User-Defined Subclient for a NAS File Server

To specify the content that you want to back up, create a user-defined subclient. When you add a NAS file server, the Commvault creates a default subclient that includes all the data.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. In the Name column, click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. In the Protocols table, in the Protocol column, click the CIFS or NFS protocol.

    The protocol page appears.

  4. In the lower-right area of the page, click Add subclient.

The Add subclient dialog box appears.

  5. In the Name box, enter a name for the subclient.

  6. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the subclient.

The server plan specifies where the backed-up data is stored, the recovery point objective (RPO), and the data retention period.

  7. For Content tab, specify the content that you want to back up.

  8. Click OK.
