Exporting Search Results in Compliance Search

You can export the search results from Compliance Search. Exporting search results automatically creates an export set. Compliance Officers and attorneys can use export sets to deliver data in convenient and useful formats.

You can export data using the following file formats:

  • PST (Portable Storage Table) available when the search results only include email messages

  • CAB (cabinet file) available when the search results include files, emails, and a combination of files and email messages

  • PDF (Portable Document Format) available when the search results include files, emails, and a combination of files and email messages

Note

Export sets created by a Compliance user have infinite retention and are not pruned. To remove an export set, manually deleted the export set.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Activate.

    The Activate page appears.

  2. Under eDiscovery & Compliance, click Compliance search.

    The Compliance search page appears.

  3. In the upper-left area of the page, in the search box, enter a keyword, and then click the search button.

    You can also use the predefined facets or the advanced search options.

  4. Select the check boxes for the email messages or the files to export.

  5. Click Export to, and then click the file format to use.

    The Export to dialog box appears.

  6. In the Name box, type a name for the export set.

  7. For Selection Range, select the email messages or files to include in the export set:

    • To select the email messages or files selected on the previous page, click Selected.

    • To select all the email messages or files in the search results, select All.

  8. Click Save.

    A job runs to create the export set.

  9. Click Export set.

    The Export set dialog box appears. The export sets that are ready to be downloaded and the export sets that are being created are listed.

  10. To download an export set, click the action button action_button, and then click Download.

  11. If you no longer need the export set, select the export set, and then click Delete.
