Adding a Synchronous Storage Copy

You can create a synchronous storage copy for a plan.

A synchronous copy copies all backup jobs (full, incremental, differential, transaction log, or archive job) that are written to the primary copy to the copy.

An auxiliary copy operation must be performed to replicate the data to the secondary copy.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.

    The Plans page appears.

  2. From the Plans list, click the plan that you want to add a storage copy.

    The Overview page of the plan appears.

  3. Click the Backup destinations tab.

    The Regions page appears.

  4. Expand the region you want to add the copy for.

    The Backup destinations tile opens.

  5. Click Add in the top right, and then click Copy.

    The Add copy window appears.

  6. In the Name box, enter a name for the storage copy.

  7. From the Storage list, click the storage pool that you want to associate with the storage copy.

    Note

    If you select a WORM lock enabled storage, retention of the storage is applicable.

  8. From the Backups to copy list, select All jobs.

  9. From the Source list, select the source copy.

  10. To specify the start time for backups on a specific date and later, for What start date should we copy these backup types from?, select Specify a date from when to retain copies, and then select a date.

  11. For Retention period, select a period of time to retain the data.

  12. To add a rule to retain backups beyond the retention period, move the Extended Retention rules toggle key to the right, and then select a rule type and a period of time.

  13. Click Save.

Result

The storage copy appears in the Backup destinations tile under the region.
