Enabling Cross-Region Copy of an Amazon Redshift Snapshot

You can enable cross-region snapshot copy operations for an Amazon Redshift cluster group.

Before You Begin

  • To specify the permissions to Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources that Commvault requires to perform cross-region copies of Redshift snapshots, download the amazon_redshift_backup_restore_permissions.json file and use it on the AWS command line.

  • To enable the mappings for the backup plan, create a backup plan that is assigned to the cluster group, specifying the addition of a vault/replica snapshot copy to the backup plan. Specify Amazon as the vendor for the snapshot mappings. For more information about adding a snapshot copy, see Adding a Snapshot Copy to a Plan.

  • If the Redshift cluster is KMS encrypted, do the following:

    • Identify the KMS key in the destination region for encryption.

    • Add cvlt-redshift as a tag to the KMS key in the destination region and set the value to empty.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database overview page appears.

  2. On the Instances tab, from the list of Instances, select Cloud DB.

The Instances page for cloud databases appears.

  3. Click the instance.

The Overview page of the instance appears.

  4. Click the Cluster groups tab.

The Cluster group details page appears.

  5. In the Cluster groups section, click the cluster group.

The Overview page of the cluster group appears.

The region mapping information initially displayed is inherited from the backup plan.

      An edit regions dialog appears.

    2. From the Destination region list, select a region.

    3. Click SAVE.

You can map only one destination region to each configured source region per instance group.

  7. To create more region mappings, do the following:

    1. In the Snapshot section, click Add.

The Add a region mapping dialog box appears.

    2. From the Source region list, select a source Amazon Web Services region.

    3. From the Destination region list, select a target Amazon Web Services region.

  8. Click SAVE.
