Testing Failover for a Periodic Replication Group

Updated

You can perform a test failover operation to validate failover operations for a replication group.

For VMware destinations, a test failover operation live-mounts replicated VMs that are part of a replication group on the destination site. For Amazon and Azure destinations, a test failover operation clones replicated VMs that are part of a failover group on the destination site.

Test failover is supported only for Amazon, Azure, and VMware destinations.

Before You Begin

For VMware, before performing a test failover operation, review the Test Failover Options section in the replication group settings. You can use these options to configure an isolated network.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Auto Recovery > Replication groups.

    The Replication groups page appears.

  2. Under Group name, click a replication group.

The Overview tab of the replication group page appears.

  3. In the upper-right area of the page, click Failover, and then select Test failover.

The Test failover dialog box appears.

  4. From the Recovery point list, select a recovery point.

  5. In the hours box, enter the expiration time for a newly failover VM that will be created.

  6. Click Yes.
