Use the following procedure to create a HyperScale X storage pool manually.
Note
When you use a stand-alone web server, the storage pool is not created automatically during HyperScale X installation. In such cases, you must create the storage pool manually from the Command Center.
Before You Begin
-
Make sure the nodes are set up as described in Setting Up the Network.
-
You can use only one instance of the MediaAgent to configure the HyperScale Storage Pool, if multiple instances of the MediaAgent software is installed on a node. (For information about multi-instance installations, see Multi-Instance Installations.) For example if you have MA1 installed in instance 1 and MA2 installed in instance 2, you can create only one HyperScale Storage Pool using either MA1 or MA2. Do not use the other MediaAgent instance on the node to configure another HyperScale Storage Pool.
-
Download and install the latest updates associated with the release before creating the HyperScale Storage Pool.
Procedure
-
Open the Command Center. See Opening the Command Center for more information.
-
From the navigation pane, go to Storage > HyperScale X.
The HyperScale page appears.
-
Click Add.
The Add HyperScale page appears.
-
In the Name box, type a name for the Storage Pool.
-
From the Nodes list, select the names associated with the nodes that were configured.
-
Click Save.
Result
-
A storage pool will be created. To view the storage pool, click Storage Pools from the navigation pane.
-
Additionally, a new global deduplication policy appears under the Policies > Storage Policies node.
What To Do Next
Create a storage policy or a storage policy copy and assign it to the global deduplication policy. See Creating a Storage Policy with Global Deduplication or Creating a Storage Policy Copy with Global Deduplication for more information.
