Performance Tuning for Hybrid File Store

Deprecated

Review the following guidelines to ensure high availability and improve the performance of the Hybrid File Store (HFS) servers:

  • Distribute the backup load from one HFS server to multiple MediaAgent to ensure load balancing and high availability of the data paths. HFS will adhere to the data path configuration of the storage policy.

  • To increase the performance, add more HFS servers in parallel. If the data is divided into several shares, those shares can each be served by a separate HFS server for highest performance.

  • For databases, if the number of databases is small, then configure a single store for each database to get a granular control over each HFS store like, retention settings, client settings to authorize access to the store, storage policy settings/plans for each store.

If the number of databases is large, it is recommended to group the databases and create one HFS store for each group.

  • Configure the index cache and data cache on separate physical disks.
