Separating the CommServe from a CommServe-MediaAgent Computer

If you have the CommServe and MediaAgent installed together, you can separate the CommServe from a MediaAgent computer with or without a File system Agent. For example, you do this to move the CommServe to a more powerful computer or to relocate both the CommServe and MediaAgent to two separate computers.

Procedure

1. Prepare the existing CommServe-MediaAgent computer.

2. Set up a new MediaAgent on the second instance of the existing CommServe-MediaAgent computer.

   1. Enable multi-instance installation on the existing CommServe-MediaAgent computer.

   2. Install a new MediaAgent.

   3. Perform post installation operations on the new MediaAgent

3. Perform post migration operations on the new MediaAgent.

4. Uninstall the CommServe Software from Instance001 of the CommServe-MediaAgent computer.

5. Change the hostname of the existing CommServe-MediaAgent computer.

6. Establish a new CommServe computer.

7. Change the client computer name of the MediaAgent that is available in the second instance.

8. Delete the CommServer Client MediaAgent package entry.
