Specifying the Preferred Linux Proxy for a Microsoft Azure Virtualization Client

You can specify a preferred Linux proxy for a Microsoft Azure virtualization client. The preferred Linux proxy is used for Live File Recovery and Live Recovery for VMs.

By default, the preferred Linux proxy is used for all browse and restore operations of the virtualization client. But when you perform a browse operation, you can select a different proxy, overriding the Preferred node for guest file restores setting. Selecting a proxy when performing a restore overrides all other settings. Verify that the proxy used for restores is same as that used for the browse operation.

If the virtualization client uses Indexing Version 1, you must specify a preferred node to enable mount operations for guest file restores of a VM. If the virtualization client uses the latest version of indexing, specifying a preferred Linux proxy is optional. If you do not configure a preferred node for guest file restores for a hypervisor, when you perform live browse and restore of guest files on Linux VMs, the Commvault software automatically selects an access node.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers > virtualization_client > Virtual Server.

  2. Right-click the virtualization client, and then select Properties.

  3. On the Proxies tab, from the Preferred node for guest file restores list, select the proxy and MediaAgent (OVA) deployed machine.

  4. Click OK.
