Use this dialog box to manage the File System Subclient properties.
Enable archiving with these rules
Select this option to configure the rules for archiving. Once selected, you cannot clear the Enable Onepass check box on the General tab of the Subclient Properties dialog box.
Start cleaning up disk when it is less than n% free
-
Enter the low watermark value for the disk.
-
If the free space on the disk is greater than the specified value, then the disk will not be scanned for archiving.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of 100.
For example:
If you entered a value of 60% for this field, and the free space currently on the disk is 50%, then the disk will be scanned for files that meet the archiving criteria.
Stop cleaning up disk when it is up to n% free
-
Enter the high watermark value for the disk.
-
If the free space on the disk is less than the specified value, files will be archived until the free space on the disk is equal to the value specified.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of 100.
Note that in the case of a very large file, archiving will continue even beyond the specified high watermark value until the entire file has been archived.
For example:
If you entered a value of 70% for this field, and archiving has freed up 70% of the space on the disk, then archiving of files within that volume will cease.
Clean up items that meet these criteria
Configure the rules for archiving using the following options:
-
File access time older than n days
-
Enter the number of days elapsed (i.e., the age of the file) since the last accessed time of each file.
-
For archiving, the last accessed date of each file within that disk or folder/directory is checked to see if it is older than the number of days specified.
-
If the last accessed date of files is older than the number of days entered, the files will be archived.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of zero.
For example:
If you entered a value of 30 days, then all files older than 30 days in the scanned disk or folder/directory will be archived.
-
-
File modified time older than n days
-
Enter the number of days elapsed (i.e., the age of the file) since the modified time of each file.
-
For archiving, the modified date of each file within that disk or folder/directory is checked to see if it is older than the number of days specified here.
-
If the modified date of files is older than the number of days entered in this field, then those files will be archived.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of zero.
For example:
If you entered a value of 30 days, then all files older than 30 days in the scanned disk or folder/directory will be archived.
-
-
File size greater than n KB
-
Enter the size a file must be in order for the file to be archived.
-
If a file size within a scanned disk or folder/directory is greater than this value, then it will be archived.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of zero.
For example:
If you entered a value of 50 KB, then all files greater than 50 KB in the scanned disk or folder/directory will be archived.
-
-
Maximum file size n KB
-
Enter the size a file must be in order for the file to be archived.
-
If a file size within a scanned disk or folder/directory is less than this value, then it will be archived.
-
To ignore this rule, enter a value of zero.
For example:
- If you entered a value of 50 KB, then all files less than 50 KB in the scanned disk or folder/directory will be archived.
-
-
File type
Use this option to archive files with certain extensions. To add multiple file extensions, use a semi colon as a separator.
For example, to archive .txt, .jpg, .png files, type *.txt;*.jpg;*.png.
Use native snapshot to preserve file access time
When selected, backup will be performed on a native snapshot of the source volume thereby preserving the file access time on the source volume.
Pattern Match
When smart archiving is enabled, define files to archive based on wildcard patterns that appear in the file name or contents of the file.
For example, to archive files with the TXT file extension, enter *.txt. Note that files with pattern matches in their content will also be archived.
After Archiving
You can now decide if a file has to be deleted or stubbed after an archiving job using the following options:
Replace the file with a stub
After an archiving job, the file meeting all the archiving rules specified above will be replaced with a stub in the same location.
Delete the file
After an archiving job, the file meeting all the archiving rules specified above will be deleted from the source location.
Stub Pruning
Applies to: OnePass for Windows, OnePass for UNIX, OnePass for BlueArc, OnePass for Celerra, OnePass for NetApp, and Driverless OnePass for Windows
Select the Stub Pruning check box to prune the stubs from the source disk based on access time or modification time.
Choose either of the following options based on you requirement:
Remove stubs with file modification time older than n days
Enter the number of days in the Remove stubs older than n days box. The stubs whose modified time is older than n days are pruned from the source disk.
Remove stubs not accessed in previous n days
Enter the number of days in the Remove stubs not accessed in previous n days box. The stubs that were not accessed in the last n number of days specified are pruned from the source disk.
Remove stubs with stub creation time older than n days
Enter the number of days in the Remove stubs with stub creation time older than n days box. The stubs that were created before the last specified n number of days are pruned from the source disk.
Enable redundancy check for archived data
This option is selected by default on new subclients. Select the option on upgraded subclients to perform a redundancy check and ensure that multiple copies of the files are available in the storage disk. A file that meets the archiving rules is stubbed only if another copy of the file is available on a different storage disk. A stub can be recalled only if a copy of source file is available on the storage disk. However, if the storage disk is corrupted or misplaced, then the stub cannot be recalled.
