Subclient Properties (Logs Backup)

Use this tab to determine for which instances the archive redo logs will be backed up or deleted and also the instance order for these tasks.

Backup Archive Log

Specifies whether to back up or delete archived redo log files. These logs can be applied to the database in order to recover it to a point-in-time. This option is not available when you select Offline Database in the Content tab.

Backup Archive Log All

Specifies whether to back up archived redo log files for all the specified instances (displayed in the Client/Instance/Status/Stream field). If the archive logs are stored on a shared medium (e.g. NFS, CFS), all the archive logs for all the instances will be backed up. These logs can be applied to the database in order to recover it to a point-in-time. This option is not available when you select Offline Database.

Backup Instance Archive Log

Specifies whether to back up archived redo log files for a selected instance (displayed in the Client/Instance/Status/Stream field). If the archive logs are on a drive locally (i.e., not shared), only the archived logs for selected instances will be backed up. These logs can be applied to the database in order to recover it to a point-in-time. This option is not available when you select Offline Database.

Archive Delete

Specifies whether archived redo log files will be deleted once they are backed up. This option is available only when you select the Backup Archive Log option. You cannot select this option when you have selected the Archive Delete All option.

Note: The Commvault software inserts the DELETE INPUT command into the generated RMAN script. This only deletes the specific copy of the archived re-do log for the chosen backup set.

Archive Delete All

Specifies whether all archived redo log files will be deleted once they are backed up. This option is available only when you select the Backup Archive Log option. You cannot select this option when you have selected the Archive Delete option.

Note: The Commvault software inserts the DELETE ALL INPUT command into the generated RMAN script. This deletes each backed up archived re-do log file from all the archive log destinations.

Disable Switch Current Log

When selected, log switching is disabled for the current redo log file during an archive log backup.

Use RMAN for Log Backup

This option is applicable for snap backup only. When selected, this option allows you to perform a traditional RMAN backup instead of taking snapshot for log volume.

Select Archive Log Destinations for Backup

Specifies the location from where the archive logs will be backed up. Use Add and Delete to administer these locations.

Select Archive Log Destinations for Delete

Specifies the location from where the archive logs will be deleted. Use Add and Delete to administer these locations.

Log threshold streams

For Oracle RAC, this specifies whether to run the archive log backup job when the total number of reserved streams is greater than or equal to the value that you specify in this field. Use the space to change the value, which should be the minimum number of streams that the software uses for an archive log backup.
