Verify that the following system requirements are ready for the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for CIFS Shares.
MediaAgent
-
The MediaAgent version of the proxy computer must be the same or earlier than the MediaAgent version of the storage policy. The backward compatibility of the CIFS snapshot jobs is not supported if the MediaAgent version of the proxy computer is later than that of the MediaAgent computer where the storage policy runs.
-
To prevent missing incremental changes, verify that there is no clock skew between the file server and the proxy MediaAgent.
Indexing
-
For the following arrays, Commvault Indexing Version 1 is not supported. Use the latest version of indexing.
-
Dell EMC Unity
-
Hitachi NAS
-
Huawei
-
-
For newly configured or upgraded client computers that use the latest version of indexing, make sure that you have access to a Commvault Version 11 proxy computer. Commvault Version 10 proxy computers are not supported.
Arrays
-
For the Huawei storage array, use Huawei OceanStor 5500 V3 with version V300R006C10 or later versions.
-
For the NetApp storage array, the CIFS shares created on the NetApp Data ONTAP 8.0 system do not inherit the access permissions from the original CIFS shares. Either upgrade to an ONTAP version that supports share-level access control lists (ACLs) or modify the permissions directly in the ACL on the share.
-
NetApp SnapDiff: SnapDiff v2 is supported for snapshot cataloging for NetApp storage arrays with ONTAP 9.5P11, 9.6P6, or 9.7.
-
For information about snapshot cataloging, see Snapshot Cataloging.
-
For more information on supported SnapDiff versions based on the ONTAP version that you are using, see Faster Incremental Backups Using the NetApp SnapDiff Feature.
