Enabling Remote Installations from the VSA Proxy

In deployments where guest virtual machines are accessible only through the VSA proxy, you can enable remote installations by turning on the necessary additional settings on the proxy.

Note

The following additional settings apply to both Application-Aware and Application-Based backups.

  • FirewallConnectionType

Use this setting on the VSA proxy to define the communication flow in environments where a firewall exists between the CommServe server and the guest VM. This configuration is required for application-based backups in deployments with firewall restrictions. For more information, see the FirewallConnectionType Additional Setting.

    • Supported values:

      • 1: The CommServe can reach the VM, but the VM cannot reach back to the CommServe.

      • 2: The VM is only accessible from the VSA proxy (not directly from the CommServe).

  • HTTPSPort

Use this additional setting to specify the incoming HTTPS tunnel port number for the VM/CS/Network Proxy, based on the firewall connection type defined in the FirewallConnectionType setting. For more information, see the HTTPSPort Additional Setting.

  • NetworkProxyName

Use this setting in deployments where guest virtual machines are accessible only through the network proxy, and remote installations need to be performed from that proxy. For more information, see the NetworkProxyName Additional Setting.

    • Supported values:

      Any valid network proxy.
