Verify that your environment meets the system requirements for NetApp archiving.
The File System Core and File System packages are installed on a computer that acts as a data access node. The data access node sends the recall requests to the NAS file server.
Note
To back up and restore data in an IPv6 environment, see Configuring IPv6 for OnePass and CommCell Network Internet Protocol Requirements.
Operating System
The File Archiver for NetApp Agent can perform data protection/recovery operations for data on the following OS versions:

*The Active IQ Unified Manager (AIQUM) 9.14 and 9.13P1 are not supported. If you are using AIQUM-based replication, Commvault recommends verifying support from NetApp Interoperability Matrix for ONTAP 9.14.1, 9.15.1, and 9.16.1 with AIQUM 9.13 or older. For information on why certain AIQUM versions are not supported, see the NetApp KB articles CAIQUM-5577 and CAIQUM-6267.
Note
The AIQUM 9.13 version is supported only with specific NetApp patches. For information on the AIQUM version, see the NetApp article and contact NetApp.
Other Requirements
-
Ensure that the Fpolicy Proxy computers selected as the primary client and secondary client are in the same domain as that of the file server. For more information, see Configuring F-Policy Proxy and Data Access Nodes.
-
For versions earlier than 7.0 and version 7.1, you must use a Network File Share Instance type.
-
Each data access node can support multiple NetApp file servers, which have the same ONTAP version, whereas a separate data access node is required for each ONTAP version.
-
For a proxy FPolicy server on a Windows 2008 or 2012 computer, the file server must use ONTAP version 8.0.2 and later. However, if you are using an ONTAP version older than 8.0.2, then the proxy FPolicy server must be configured on a Windows 2003 computer.
-
For a NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO) C-Mode filer, review the following requirements:
-
On the proxy computer, port number 10200 must be open.
-
The filer must have https or http enabled. If https is enabled, add the nUseHttps additional setting and the FilerHttpPort additional setting with a value of 443, on the proxy computer.
-
The firewall must allow incoming traffic on port 10200 to the proxy, and allow outgoing traffic to port 80 or 443 to the filer.
Note
To verify that the new NetApp CVO client is properly configured, archive and recall a small dataset on ONTAP CVO.
-
Data Access Node
The following requirements are for the data access nodes for NetApp archiving. The data access node can be the same computer or a different one.
Note
For optimal recall performance, use a separate machine for the FPolicy proxy server.

Software That Is Automatically Installed
.NET Framework
.NET Framework 4.0 is automatically installed. Note that .NET Framework 4.0 can co-exist with other versions of this software.
Note
For standalone installs of File Share Archiver Clients, you must install the .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable Package on the computer.
Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017
Starting with Service Pack 18, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 (vcredist2017.exe) is automatically installed.
If a computer does not have the most recent Windows updates, the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2017 will fail in installing Universal C Runtime. The following Windows updates must be installed to prevent the installation failure. The updates are not required on the most recent Windows operating system versions, such as Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows Server 2016, because these versions have the Universal C Runtime already installed.
