Adding a New Sybase Server

Whenever a new Sybase Server is created on the client, you will add the Sybase Server to the CommCell using the following steps:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, navigate to Client Computers | <Client>.

  2. Right-click Sybase, point to All Tasks, and then click New Sybase Server.

    The Properties of Sybase Server dialog box appears.

  3. In the General tab, enter the following details:

    1. In the Server Name box, type the Sybase data server name.

    2. In the Sybase ASE box, type the directory name where you installed Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) environment variable.

    3. In the Sybase OCS box, type the Sybase Open Client Server (OCS )environment variable.

      You can view this variable in sybase.env file residing in home directory.

    4. In the Sybase Home box, type the path to the directory where the Sybase application files reside. Alternatively, click Browse to select the location.

    5. In the Configuration File box, type the path to the configuration file. Alternatively, click Browse to select the location.

    6. In the Shared Memory Directory box, type the location of the directory where you specify the shared memory file name. When you start an Adaptive Server, it creates a shared memory file that resides in the home directory. for example: /opt/sybase/ASE-15_0. Alternatively, click Browse to select the location.

    7. Specify a value in the Block Size box.

    8. Select the Enable Auto Discovery checkbox to enable auto discovery of instance.

    9. In the Default Database Storage Policy box, select the storage policy.

    10. In the Description box, enter the description about the Sybase server.

  4. You must enter the following details as per credential manager:

    • If you select Unix server, do the following:

      1. On the Accounts tab, enter the following details:

        1. In the Sybase OS user name box, enter the OS user name.

        2. Click SA User Credential, and then click Add new.

          The Add Credential dialog box appears.

        3. From the Account type list, select a database account.

        4. From the Database type list, select Sybase.

        5. In the Credential name box, enter a unique name to access the credential.

        6. In the User Name box, enter a database user.

        7. In the Password box, enter the password for the database user.

        8. In the Description box, enter the description of the Sybase instance.

    • If you select Windows server, do the following:

      1. On the Accounts tab, enter the following details:

        1. In the Sybase OS user credential box, enter the OS user name.

        2. Click SA User Credential, and then click Add new.

          The Add Credential dialog box appears.

        3. From the Account type list, select a database account.

        4. From the Credential Vault list, select a credential vault to store, share, and update account credentials with shared resources in your environment.

        5. In the Credential name box, enter a unique name to access the credential.

        6. In the User Name box, enter a database user.

        7. In the Password box, the password for the database user.

        8. In the Description box, enter the description of the Sybase instance.

        9. Click SA User Credential, and then click Add new.

          The Add Credential dialog box appears.

        10. From the Account type list, select a database account.

        11. From the Database type list, select Sybase.

        12. In the Credential name box, enter a unique name to access the credential.

        13. In the User Name box, enter a database user.

        14. In the Password box, the password for the database user.

        15. In the Description box, enter the description of the Sybase instance.

  5. Click OK.
