Configuring a Storage Group for Target Devices

To use a restricted group of target devices for in the mount operation, create a storage group, then add thin devices (TDEVs) that can be selected as target devices. Then, specify the storage group in the Commvault software.

Before You Begin

Do not associate the storage group to any storage resource pool in the storage array.

Procedure

1. Using the array software, create a storage group in the storage array.

2. Using the EMC Unisphere GUI, add target devices to the storage group.

3. In the Commvault software, from the CommCell Browser, click the Storage tab, and then click the Array Management icon.

   The Array Management dialog box appears.

4. Select an Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX3/VMAX/Symmetrix array, and then click Edit.

   The Array Properties dialog box appears.

5. On the Snap Configuration tab, in the Use SnapVX target devices from storage group box, type the name of the storage group.

6. Click OK.
