After you install the Windows File System Agent on the data access nodes, create a network share client.
The host name is not required when you create a network share client, but if you do provide the host name, the software uses it as follows:
-
For file servers such as NetApp, the host name is used to map the array information to the corresponding client.
-
For all file servers, the host name is automatically populated when you browse for content on a file server. (If a valid host name is not provided when you create the network share client, you can manually enter the host name during the browse operation.)
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, and then click New Client.
The Add New Client dialog box appears.
-
Under File System, click NAS/Network Share.
The Add NAS/Network Share Client dialog box appears.
-
On the General tab, in the Client Name box, enter the name for the client.
-
From the Vendor type list, select any vendor. If you want to use the NAS server without IntelliSnap or the vendor is not listed, select Generic.
-
For NetApp, enter the following information:
- In the NetApp management interface box, enter the host name of the NetApp cluster or SVM.
-
For Dell EMC Isilon, enter the following information:
- In the Dell EMC Isilon cluster box, enter the external IP address or the host name of any node in the Isilon cluster.
-
For Huawei, enter the following information:
-
In the Serial number box, enter the serial number (SN) of the Huawei storage system.
-
In the Console interface box, enter the management IP address of the Huawei array.
-
-
-
In the Credentials area, click Change.
The User Account dialog box appears.
-
Type the credentials of a user or select the existing credentials from Use saved credential list, and then click Ok.
-
In the Backup Type area, select the Network Share check box.
-
Select the CIFS check box.
-
From the CIFS Access Nodes list, select the access nodes to use for the file server.
Note
If a client group is selected as an access node, ensure that each client in the group has connectivity to the array.
-
To verify the connection between the array and access node, click Test connection. This option applies only to NetApp, Dell EMC Isilon, and Huawei.
-
Click Ok.
Result
The Commvault software creates a client that has a Windows File System agent with a default backup set and a default subclient.
