Step 1: Before You Begin

Open the Azure portal and create SMB volume for Azure NetApp Files. For more information, see Create an SMB volume for Azure NetApp Files.

This page assumes you have already installed CommServe software. If not, see Installations.

Refer to the System Requirements page for Windows File System Agent.
Step 2: Install the Windows File System Agent
Install the Windows File System Agent on the client computer from where you can access the SMB shares.
Select the installation method that is most appropriate for your environment. For instructions, see Installation Methods.
Step 3: Prepare for Your First Backup and Restore

Open the CommCell Console.

Configure a Storage Device.
You must install the MediaAgent to configure a storage device.

To configure a disk library, see Disk Libraries - Getting Started.

To configure a tape library, see Tape Libraries - Getting Started.

Create a network share client and then create a subclient under the Windows file system agent of the network share client. Use the following steps to create a network share client:
Alternately, you can also create a subclient for the local client computer and add the SMB share as a UNC path to the subclient content. For instructions, see Adding a UNC Path as Subclient Content.

On the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, and then click New Client.
The Add New Client dialog box appears.

Under File System, click NAS/Network Share.

Select the Network Share check box, and then select the Windows check box.

Clear the NDMP check box.

In the Client Name box, enter the non-NDMP network share client name.

In the Host Name box, enter the fully qualified non-NDMP network share client name/IP.

Click OK.
A pseudo network share client is created on the CommCell Console. For instructions on creating a subclient, see Adding a UNC Path as Subclient Content.
Note
To add an access node for the network share subclient, select a computer from where you can access the SMB shares.
