Restoring Short File Names

You can use this option to restore file names from media. When this option is enabled, any short file name that was backed up is restored. If a naming conflict occurs, the file server uses a new file name.

When disabled, a file name is generated by the file system, which can result in a name that is different from the backed up file.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Console, go to Client Computers> client > NDMP.

2. Right-click the backup set, and then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

3. In the Browse Options dialog box, click View Content.

4. Select the data that you want to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.

5. In the Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box, click Advanced.

6. On the NAS Options tab, select Yes for Restore Enable 8.3 Names.

7. Click OK.
