Configure an IBM i File System subclient for the optimized scan method.
The optimized scan method performs a minimal scan on the IBM i File System subclient content (the /*/QSYS.LIB/*[LIB/OBJ] entries and the user-specified IFS content) to determine the data that the Commvault software needs to back up. The scan generates a file that the software uses to generated SAV* commands. The software processes the references that were made by the SAV* commands after the SAV completes.

Supported Configurations
You can configure any subclient that is not an object-level backup subclient.
You must have one of the following versions of IBM i:

You must have the following components:

An IBM i File System client
-
A proxy server
-
A MediaAgent
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > File System > backup_set.

Right-click the subclient, and then click Properties.
The Subclient Properties dialog box appears.

Click Advanced.
The Advanced Properties dialog box appears.

On the Advanced Options tab, select the Optimized Scan check box.

Click OK.
