To back up your VMware VMs, first create a hypervisor and a VM group with the VMs you want, then either start a backup yourself or let the next scheduled one run.
To configure backups for VMware VMs, do the following:
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Service catalog.
-
In the Virtual machines tile, click Configure.
-
Select VMware vCenter, and then click Next.
-
On the Add hypervisor page, enter details about the hypervisor.
-
Select existing credentials, or click the add button to create new credentials.
-
For Access nodes, select Automatic.
Error message about failure to connect to the vCenter server
Enable the Skip SSL/TLS Certificate Verification toggle key. The error message appears because you are using a self-signed certificate for vCenter.
-
Click Next.
-
On the Add VM group page, click Add to create a rule to discover VMs based on criteria—such as datastore, power state, or tags—and you can select specific VMs.
-
Select an existing backup plan, or click the add button to create a new backup plan.
-
Click Next, and then complete the configuration wizard.
-
To run a manual backup, go to the hypervisor, and then in the upper-right area of the page, click Backup.
