To prepare to onboard a new workload—like Azure VM or Microsoft 365—configure the resources that give Commvault access to the workload.
Key points
-
Creating resources before onboarding workloads is simpler: You can create most resources in Commvault's onboarding wizards, but it's usually simpler to create them before running the wizards.
-
You can use existing resources: If the resources you need are already configured, you can use them. For example, if you have a backup gateway in a certain AWS region and you want to onboard another AWS workload in the same region, you can use the existing backup gateway.
-
If you use Commvault infrastructure, you don't need backup gateways: Only customers who use their own infrastructure need to provision and maintain backup gateways.
-
After onboarding, you can configure snapshots: After you onboard a workload and confirm that backups work as expected, you can enable snaps for the workload.
