Add the Apache Hive App for Hadoop

When you add the Hive app, a default subclient is created for Hive.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Big data.

    The Big data page appears.

  2. Click the cluster to add the Hive app to.

    The cluster page appears.

  3. Under Hadoop Apps, click Add.

    The Add Hadoop apps page appears.

  4. From the Apps list, select Hive.

  5. From the Hive credential list, select existing credentials for the Hive cluster, or create new credentials.

    Steps to create new Hive credentials

    To add new Hive credentials to the Credential Manager, click the plus button (+) next to the Hive credential box, and then specify the following in the Add Credential dialog box.

    1. In the Credential name box, enter the name of the credential.

    2. In the Hive user box, enter the name of the user account to connect to the Hive cluster.

    3. Optional: In the Hive Password box, enter the password.

    4. In the Description box, you can enter a description of the credentials.

    5. Click Save.

    Note

    If you change the Hive credential or password for an existing client, you must restart the service. Otherwise, the system will continue using the cached old password.

  6. In JDBC Connection String, enter the connection URL that is used to connect to the Hive application.

  7. In Staging location, enter the HDFS location to stage the Hive database.

  8. Click Save.
