Adding a NAS File Server

To archive data on a NAS file server, add the file server.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Archiving.

    The Archive file servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Add server.

    The Configure Archive Server wizard appears.

  3. From the list of server types, select NAS.

  4. Click Next

General

  1. In the Name box, enter a name for the server, and then click Add new server.

    You can search and select an existing file server from the list. For more information, see Adding an Existing File Server.

  2. In the Host name box, enter the fully qualified domain name of the server.

  3. From the Vendor type list, select the server type.

  4. Click Next.

    The Plan page of the configuration wizard appears.

Plan

  1. Add a new archive plan and then, provide information about storage, retention, and archive schedules.

    For more information, see Create An Archive Plan.

    If you have created an archive plan already, enter the name and select the plan from the list.

  2. Click Next.

    The Archive Method page of the configuration wizard appears.

Archiving Method Configuration

  1. Select NFS or CIFS as required and click Next.

    The Network Share Configuration page of the configuration wizard appears.

  2. If you have selected CIFS, select the access node type.

  3. From the Access node list, select the access node for network share.

    For CIFS archiving method, from the CIFS Credentials list, select existing credentials or create new credentials to access the NAS server.

    Steps to add new credentials

    To add credentials to the Credential Manager, click the plus button (+), and then specify the following in the Add Credential dialog box.

    1. In the Credential name box, enter the name of the credential.

    2. In the User account box, enter the name of the user account.

    3. In the Password box, enter the password.

    4. In the Description box, you can enter a description of the credentials.

    5. Click Save.

    If you had selected Netapp as the vendor type, and the archiving method is CIFS, then provide the Array credentials.

  4. By default, all CIFS or NFS shares are selected as the archive content.

    To archive specific shares, move the toggle key to the left.

    Provide the specific share as the archive content.

  5. Click Next.

    The Summary page of the configuration wizard appears.

  6. Review the archive details, and then click Add.
