Adding an Oracle Database Instance

You can add an Oracle instance when you need to manage a database.

Tip

If you have access to more than ten server groups, use the arrow buttons at the lower-left bottom of the page to page through the server groups.

Before You Begin

  • Make sure that you have the following information:

    • The Oracle application installation path

    • The credentials that you use to access the Oracle client

    • The backup plan to be used for data and log backups

  • If you are going to use a cluster database server for high availability provided by third-party cluster software such as Symantec VCS or Linux Pacemaker Cluster, configure the cluster database server.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database overview page appears.

  2. To create an instance, in the upper-right area of the window, click Add instance > Database server.

The database type selection page appears.

  8. Configure the authentication method you want to use:

    Note

    • If you want to use an account other than 'sys', you must grant the SYSDBA or SYSBACKUP (in Oracle version 12 or higher) privilege to the user account.

    • The connect string can be authenticated from Oracle Internet Directory (OID) and LDAP servers.

    • To use "/" (the slash character) as the connect string, select OS authentication.

    • To use Oracle wallet auto login, select Wallet auto login and then type the Service name.

    • To use a credential, select Credential and then from the Connect string list select a saved credential.

  10. To use a Windows account credential, under Advanced Options, from the Windows OS Account Credential list select a saved credential.

  11. Click Add.

Result
