Configuring Backups for Amazon S3 Object Storage

Create an Amazon S3 group that will contain the buckets and objects you want to manage and back up.

Before You Begin

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Service catalog.

Choose Amazon S3

  1. On the Object Storage tile, click Configure.

  2. Select Amazon S3.

    The File & Object Trial message appears.

  3. Click Continue.

    The Configure Permissions page of the wizard appears.

Configure Permissions

  1. You can choose to use either the hosted infrastructure provided by Commvault or your own configured access nodes for backups.

    • Use hosted infrastructure: Select this option to use the hosted infrastructure provided by Commvault for backups.

    • Use your access nodes for backups: Select this option if you want to use your own configured access nodes for performing backups.

    Note

    If the MSP has configured a workload resource pool in a single region and no access node is configured by the tenant, this step will not appear. Access nodes configured in the workload resource pool are selected automatically.

Access Node

  1. Select one of the following options:

    • If you selected Use hosted infrastructure, select the region where the Amazon S3 data is hosted, and then click Next.

      Only the allowed regions where Commvault Cloud access nodes are present are available to select.

    • if you selected Use your access nodes for backups, select an existing access node or configure a new access node for performing backups.

Plan Creation

  1. Select an existing backup plan or create a new backup plan to associate with Amazon S3, and then click Next.

    If the region for hosted infrastructure is selected, only backup plans associated with that region are displayed.

Choose Cloud Account

  1. Select an existing cloud account or create a new cloud account .

  2. In Object storage instance name, enter a descriptive name for the object storage instance.

  3. In Host URL, enter the service account URL.

    • To back up region-based data, enter the AWS service endpoint URL for the region in the format: s3.region.amazonaws.com.

    • To back up Amazon S3 Express One Zone directory buckets:

Choose Backup Content

  1. Select the backup content you want to protect, such as the file systems and data.

Summary

  1. Review your selections, and then click Finish to complete the configuration.
