You can create blueprints for various features in the Commvault Console that can be applied across multiple entities within different actively managed Service CommCells.
For example, you can create an automatic server group that will be created in multiple Service CommCells based on the server group rules, instead of configuring the automatic server group individually in separate Service CommCells.
Blueprints are used for centralized configuration. You define the configuration in the Global Command Center, select the Service CommCells where it should apply, and synchronize the blueprint to those Service CommCells.
When an entity or property is managed by a blueprint, changes should be made from the Global Command Center. Some locally managed properties might remain editable on the Service CommCell, but blueprint-managed properties can be disabled for local editing or overwritten during synchronization.
Before You Begin
-
Switch to the Global Command Center and confirm that the URL includes
mode=global. -
Enable Active Management for at least one Service CommCell, or verify that Active Management is enabled by default for the Service CommCell software version.
-
Verify that the Global Configuration Manager and Hub Service are installed and healthy.
-
Verify that the user account exists on each target Service CommCell with the same email address or user principal name (UPN), and has permission to create or update the blueprint-managed entity on that Service CommCell.
You can create blueprints for the following features:
-
CommCell Policies: Simultaneously apply activity control, email settings, security options, and additional configurations to multiple CommCells.
-
Alerts: Create alerts to notify administrators about various system events, including system anomalies, backup job statuses, and storage space issues.
-
Server Group: Apply the same settings to all servers within a server group.
-
Plans: Create a backup plan to specify the schedule and storage for your backed-up data, and associate this backup plan with different Service CommCells.
-
Entity Tags: Add tags to entities across multiple Service CommCells for easier searching and filtering later.
-
Regions: Define regions across multiple Service CommCells. When using a plan that includes region-based storage, if a server's region matches one defined in the plan, the server's backup data will be directed to the storage designated for that region.
-
Workflows: Add workflows to multiple Service CommCells and execute them simultaneously across all Service CommCells.
-
Users and User Groups: Add and manage users and user groups across all Service CommCells at the same time.
