Create AWS access nodes for primary and standby scale manager nodes

You must have a Linux access node (server) with Virtual Agent package installed that manages only auto-scaling. You can use an existing access node; however, it is recommended that this access node must be dedicated exclusively for auto-scaling and not manage any other data protection operations. This access node is used as the scale manager node in the scaling configuration. You may also create another access node and use it as standby scale manager node when the primary scale manager node is offline.

Procedure

  1. Configuring an Access Node for Amazon EC2.

  2. Create an IAM role using the sts-assume-policy.json IAM policy and associate this policy with the scale manager node.

Note

Once the scale manager access node is created, make sure it is always up and running.
