Important

  • Include multiple DCs from each AD domain so that recovery can be completed successfully even if one DC encounters problems.

  • At least one domain controller in each AD domain must be recovered using a restore from backup method. For more information, see Specify the recovery option for domain controllers for Active Directory forest recovery. If at least one DC is not restored from backup in a domain, then that domain is removed from the recovered forest, and all its metadata is cleaned up.

  • After at least one DC is restored from backup in a domain, additional DCs from the same domain can also be restored from backup or recovered using the Provision and promote new domain controller or Promote server to domain controller method.

  • If intentionally restoring only selected domains from the forest, always include the forest root domain in the recovery. Any domains not included in the runbook will be removed from the recovered forest, and their metadata will be cleaned up.

  1. Beside the name of each domain controller you want to include in the runbook, do the following:

    1. Click the action button action_button, and then select Configure recovery option.

The Configure recovery option dialog box appears.

    2. For Recovery option, select a recovery option.

    3. Click Submit.

  2. At the bottom of the wizard, click Close.

    The runbook page appears.
