Creating a scaling profile for AWS includes specifying credentials for the AWS account, a scaling manager node, and the Availability Zones (AZs) to scale access nodes in.
Start the scaling profile wizard

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Environment > Infrastructure.

Click the Scale configuration tile.

Click Add.

Select Amazon Web Services, and then click Next.
General page

Enter a name and description for the scaling profile.

Click Next.
Authentication and Access page

Choose one of the following options:

Use hosted infrastructure: Use managed infrastructure to handle and orchestrate scaling operations.

Use your access nodes for backups: Use your own scale manager to manage and orchestrate scale operations.

Launch the CloudFormation Template by either clicking Launch the CloudFormation Stack or clicking Copy Link and pasting the URL in a browser to create CommvaultScaleManagementRole and CommvaultComputeRole roles.
If the CommvaultScaleManagementRole and CommvaultComputeRole roles were previously created, you can skip this step.

Click the Launch CloudFormation Template link to open the AWS console.
Note
If AWS EBS encryption is enabled for your region in your AWS account, to use the template, you must be a key user for the default encryption key. If you are not a key user for the default encryption key, copy the Launch Cloud Formation Template link and share it with someone who is a key user, such as your security administrator.

Log on to the AWS console.
The Quick create stack page appears.

Click Create stack.
Wait for the CloudFormation Stack to finish creating the CommvaultScaleManagementRole and CommvaultComputeRole roles. The CloudFormation Stack creates IAM policies for access nodes, and then attaches the policies to scale manager access node.

Return to the Commvault configuration wizard.

Select or create a credential using the CommvaultScaleManagementRole Role Arn.

For Scale manager node, select the primary scale manager node.

For Standby scale manager, you can select a secondary scale manager node for when the primary scale manager node is offline.

Click Next.
Zonal Configuration page
Specify the AZs to scale the access nodes in. You can add multiple AZs.

Click Add.
-
Specify the AZ, VPC, subnet, and security group.

Enable and select a key pair to associate with deployed compute nodes.

Click Next.
Node Settings page

Select the CommvaultComputeRole role for the scaled access nodes and specify the other settings, such as tags and maximum number of access nodes.

Click Next.
Summary page

Review the summary.
-
Click Submit.
