Creating a Full Cluster Application Group for Kubernetes

You can create a full cluster application group that protects your entire Kubernetes cluster using namespace-centric protection. A full cluster application group automatically discovers and protects all namespaces, applications, virtual machines, PersistentVolumeClaims, and non-namespaced (cluster-scoped) resources/objects.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Kubernetes.

  2. Click Add application group.

  3. Select the cluster to create the application group for, and then click Next.

  4. Select or create a backup plan, and then click Next.

  5. Enter a descriptive name for the application group.

  6. Under Content, click Add, and then select Workloads.

  7. Select only the cluster, and then click Done.

  8. Click Submit.

  9. To run an on-demand backup of the application group, in the upper-right area of the page, click Backup.

    Important

If you need to backup the applications or volumes in system namespaces (such as those that begin with kube- and openshift-), you can display the system namespaces in Commvault by using the bK8sShowSystemNamespaces entity setting.
