Deploying Commvault Access Node (Windows/Linux BYOL) from the AWS Marketplace

From the AWS Marketplace, you can deploy an AWS instance as a Commvault (Windows/Linux) Access Node using the Commvault Cloud Access Node BYOL offering. This image includes all components required to support Windows or Linux operations within the Commvault environment.

For more information about deploying and managing Access Nodes in AWS, see Auto-Scaling for Amazon EC2 Access Nodes.

Prerequisites

You can access the AWS Marketplace Images here:

Important

Starting with version 42.40, access node images and Media Agent images are CIS Level 1 hardened. For information, see Certifications and Compliance.

Considerations

  • After the deployment, you can subscribe to the BYOL packages on AWS Marketplace. To review the terms and conditions agreement before subscribing, see:

  • When you launch the AWS instance, you must provide a key pair. You can use an existing key pair or create a new key pair as part of the deployment.

Procedure

  1. In the Amazon EC2 console, go to Instances, and then click Launch Instance.

A wizard appears to guide you through the deployment.

  4. Select Commvault Cloud Access Node (Windows/Linux) BYOL.

  5. Select an instance type.

  6. Identify a network and subnet that are available for the deployment.

By default, the Commvault Cloud Access Node (Windows/Linux) BYOL provides 127 GB of storage.

Configure a Commvault Client for the AWS Instance

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Servers.

    The Servers page appears.

  2. Click Add server.

The Add servers dialog box appears.

The IPv4 address must be reachable by the CommServe server in one of the following ways:

  5. In Server name, enter the server name.

  6. Click Install.

  7. On the Linux machine, perform a remote install of all currently available Commvault feature release maintenance releases.

  8. If your CommServe system is a more recent release of Commvault than the MediaAgent, update the MediaAgent to the same feature release.
