Deploying a Commvault MediaAgent (Windows/Linux BYOL) from the AWS Marketplace

From the AWS Marketplace, you can deploy an AWS instance as a Commvault (Windows/Linux) MediaAgent using the Commvault Media Agent Windows BYOL listing and select a Windows image. After deployment, you can subscribe to the BYOL packages directly from the AWS Marketplace. The Commvault Media Agent (Amazon Linux x86) BYOL image includes all components required to support operations in a Commvault environment.

For more information about deploying and managing MediaAgents in AWS, see Configuring an Access Node for Amazon EC2.

Prerequisites

You can access the AWS Marketplace Images here:

Important

Starting with version 42.40, access node images and Media Agent images are CIS Level 1 hardened. For information, see Certifications and Compliance.

Considerations

  • If your CommServe system is a more recent release of Commvault than the MediaAgent, update the MediaAgent to the same feature release after deployment.

  • Obtain the host name or IP address of the CommServe host. You will enter the host name/IP address during the procedure.

  • When you launch the instance, you must provide a key pair. You can use an existing key pair or create a new key pair as part of the deployment.

Procedure

Launch an Instance in the AWS Console

  1. In the AWS EC2 Console, go to Instances, and then click Launch Instance.

AWS opens a wizard to guide you through the deployment.

  2. Search for "Commvault".

  3. Display the search results for AWS Marketplace.

  4. Select Commvault Media Agent (Windows/Linux) BYOL.

  5. Select an instance type.

  6. Identify a network and subnet that are available for the deployment.

  7. If necessary, add additional storage.

By default, the Commvault Media Agent (Windows/Linux) BYOL provides 127 GB of boot disk and 200 GB of data disk.

Configure a Commvault Client for the AWS Instance

  1. From the Command Center navigation page, go to Manage > Servers.

    The Servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

The Add server dialog box appears.

  3. Click Complete the installation if software packages are already installed on your computer.
