You can enable the Explorer Plug-In so that you can lock and unlock files on your DLP-enabled laptop. The Explorer Plug-In supports performing ad hoc backups of files and folders directly from a file explorer window, as well as securely deleting files on local disks.
Explorer Plug-In is supported on the following Windows platforms:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2019 (Standard, Datacenter) (64-bit only)
- Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and x64 Editions
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Editions
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Editions
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Editions
- Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit and x64 Editions
- Microsoft Windows 8 Editions
- Microsoft Windows Client 10
Before You Begin
Your administrator must enable DLP for your laptop. For more information, see Enabling Data Loss Prevention for all Users in a Plan.
Procedure

The Edge Monitor dialog box appears.

Enable the Explorer Plug-In on your laptop by moving the Explorer Plugin toggle key to the right.

Recommended: Create a DLP passkey for locked files on your laptop. This will allow you to unlock files if you are not connected to the Metallic environment. If you do not create a DLP passkey, then you will only be able to unlock files if you are connected to the Metallic environment.
