Getting Started With Amazon RDS Using Snapshot-Based Backups

Planning for the protection of Amazon RDS using snapshot-based backups includes verifying that your environment meets the system requirements, reviewing the permission requirements, configuring the instances, and then performing a test backup and a restore.

  1. Verify the following about your environment:

  2. For access node, you can bring your own access nodes or use hosted infrastructure.

  3. Configure a cloud database instance for Amazon RDS.

  4. Perform a test backup and a restore.

    • Your first full backup is automatically scheduled based on the assigned backup plan. To perform a manual backup, see Backing Up an Instance Group.

    • After the backup operation is complete, perform a restore. For more information, see Restores.
