Getting started with Unified Data Vault includes verifying system requirements, creating an S3 endpoint, creating a Unified Data Vault, configuring user access for the Unified Data Vault, and then performing a test put-object and get-object client operations.
The following components comprise a Unified Data Vault environment:
-
A deduplication-enabled plan for the Unified Data Vault. For more information about creating a plan, see Creating a Backup Plan.
-
An S3 endpoint supporting the S3-compatible protocol is enabled on all MediaAgents of the plan. To host a Unified Data Vault, the plan must include at least one Linux MediaAgent.
-
A Unified Data Vault is an S3-compatible storage interface integrated with Commvault backup plans. It functions as an S3 bucket in standard S3 client operations, such as
put-objectandget-object.
