Installing Cassandra Package on Cluster Nodes

You can install the Cassandra package on your cluster nodes.

Note

For Cassandra, the push installation is not supported on nodes that already have existing Commvault instances.

Before You Begin

  • You need the following information:

    • Host name

    • User name and password

    • OS type

  • Make sure that you have a valid database subscription.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Service catalog.

  2. On the Welcome page, in the Big Data tile, click Configure.

  3. On the Configure big data app, select Cassandra, and then click Next.

  4. On the Configure Cassandra cluster page, you can install the Cassandra package on your cluster nodes using the following two methods:

    1. Select Interactive Installation.

    2. If you want to use select a Backup gateway, do the following:

      1. Move the Select backup gateway toggle key to right.

      2. From the Backup gateway list, either select an existing backup gateway or add a new one. To add a new backup gateway, do the following:

        1. Click +.

        2. On the Add a new backup gateway dialog box, follow the instruction to add the backup gateway.

    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install Cassandra package.

    4. From the Cassandra gateway node list, select the newly installed gateway node.

    5. Click Next.

    1. Select Push Installation.

    2. Click Add to add the Cassandra servers.

    3. On the Perform remote install on node dialog box, inter the following details:

      1. In the Host name box, enter the host name of the Cassandra node.

      2. If you do not use the Use saved credentials toggle key, enter the details in the following boxes: User name, Password and Confirm password.

      3. If you move the Use saved credentials toggle to right, either select a saved credential from Credential list or add a new credential. To add a new credential, do the following:

        1. Click +.

          The Add Credential dialog box appears.

        2. In the Account type list, select an account.

        3. In the Credential vault list, select the credential vault.

        4. In the credential name, enter the name of the credential.

        5. In the User account box, enter the user account.

        6. If you move the Use SSH key toggle key to right, select a SSH key path.

        7. In the Password box, enter the password.

        8. In the Description box, enter a description of the credential.

        9. Click Save.

      4. In the SSH port number box, enter the port number.

      5. If you move the Use SSH key toggle key to right, select a SSH key path.

      6. In the Installation location box, enter the location for the install.

      7. Click Install.

    4. From the Cassandra gateway node list, select the newly installed gateway node.

    5. Click Next.

  5. On the Plan page, select a plan, and then click Next.

  6. On the Add Cassandra cluster page, enter the following details:

    1. In the Name box, enter the name of Cassandra cluster.

    2. In the Cassandra configuration file path box, type or browse the path of the Cassandra configuration file.

    3. In the CQL port box, type the port number used for CQL connections.

  7. Under Authentication settings section, do the following:

    1. From the CQL Authentication list, select an existing credential or add a new credential. To add a new credential, do the following:

        The Add Credential dialog box appears.

      2. In the Credential name box, enter the credential name for CQL shell.

      3. In the Username box, enter the user name of the database user account.

      4. In the Password box, enter the password of the database user.

      5. In the Description box, enter a description of the credential.

      6. Click Save.

    2. From the JMX authentication list, select an existing credential or add a new credential. To add a new credential, do the following:

        The Add Credential dialog box appears.

      2. In the Credential name box, enter the credential name for Cassandra JMX.

      3. In the Username box, enter the user name for Cassandra JMX.

      4. In the Password box, enter the password for Cassandra JMX.

      5. In the Description box, enter a description of the credential.

      6. Click Save.

    3. From the SSL Keystore list, select an existing credential or add a new credential. To add a new credential, do the following:

        The Add Credential dialog box appears.

      2. In the Credential name box, enter the credential name of the database user.

      3. In the Keystore box, enter the keystore path or select a path by using the folder icon associated with this field.

      4. In the Keystore Password box, enter the keystore password.

      5. In the Description box, enter a description of the credential.

      6. Click Save.

    4. From the SSL Truststore list, select an existing credential or add a new credential. To add a new credential, do the following:

        The Add Credential dialog box appears.

      2. In the Credential name box, enter the credential name of the database user.

      3. In the Truststore box, enter the truststore path or select a path by using the folder icon associated with this field.

      4. In the Truststore password box, enter the truststore password.

      5. In the Description box, enter a description of the credential.

      6. Click Save.

      Note

      The path and password for both Keystore and Truststore must be same on all Cassandra nodes.

  8. Click Next.

  9. On the Summary page, a validation message is displayed indicating the successful configuration of Cassandra.

  10. Click Finish.
