A MediaAgent provides high performance data movement and manages the data storage. For scalability, you can create and install more than one MediaAgent in a CommCell environment.
For Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS), for ease of use and completeness, perform the Creating a MediaAgent for Azure and AWS procedure instead of the procedure in this topic.
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Manage > Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure page appears.

Click the MediaAgent tile.
The MediaAgent page appears.

In the upper-right corner, click Install MediaAgent.
The Install MediaAgent dialog box appears.

In the Host name box, type the complete host name of the computer where you have to install the MediaAgent.

In the User name box, type the credentials required to login to the computer where you want to install the MediaAgent.

In the Password box, type the password required to login to the computer where you want to install the MediaAgent.

In the Data Directory box, enter the path where you want to store the DDB and IndexCache files. This field is optional and can be used to override the default location.

/opt/<OEM>data
- Windows:
E:\<OEM>data
(whereE
represents the largest non-OS drive).- If no non-OS drive is available, the path defaults to
C:\<OEM>data
.

- If you specify a custom path (for example,
/test
), the system automatically appends<OEM>data
and creates the following subdirectories:/test/<OEM>data/DDB
/test/<OEM>data/IndexCache

Select the OS Type and use the Reboot if required slider to reboot the computer after installing the MediaAgent.

Click Install.
A job number is displayed. You can click the job number to view the job progress.
After the MediaAgent is installed, it is visible under the MediaAgent list.
