Move to Express Config Based Multi-Tenant Apps for Teams

Applies to only managed cloud deployments

This guide is for customers who are currently using a combination of Commvault hosted multi-tenant apps and single tenant apps.

Use these steps to migrate to express configuration by replacing single tenant apps with Commvault hosted multi-tenant apps.

Before You Begin

Identify the list of Microsoft 365 backup apps which are using a combination of multi-tenant apps and single tenant apps.

To identify multi-tenant and single tenant apps:

  1. Navigate to the Configuration tab of your Teams app.

  2. If the Credential Name column is not visible, add it to the view, and then look at the values in this column.

  3. Multi-tenant apps have a typical name format: Metallic Backup App for Teams.

  4. Other apps are single tenant apps.

Procedure

For each of the apps that use a combination of multi-tenant and single tenant apps, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Microsoft 365.

The Microsoft 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the Teams app that you want to update.

  3. On the configuration page of the app, click Add Azure App.

  4. Use the express configuration to add additional Commvault hosted multi-tenant apps.

Repeat this step to add up to 5 multi-tenant apps for better backup and restore performance.

  5. On the configuration page, identify the existing single tenant apps listed and note down the Azure app ID for each single tenant app.

  6. Remove the single tenant apps from the Azure portal:

  7. Sign in to the Azure portal.

  8. Navigate to Azure Active Directory > App registrations.

  9. Locate each single tenant app using the Azure app ID you noted earlier.

  10. Select the app and click Delete.

  11. Confirm the deletion.

  12. After removing the single tenant apps from the Azure portal, remove these apps from the configuration page:

  13. On the configuration page of your Teams app, locate each single tenant app.

  14. Click the delete or remove option for each single tenant app.

  15. Confirm the removal.

What to Do Next

Verify that your Teams app is now using only Commvault hosted multi-tenant apps configured via express configuration. You can now perform backups and restores with improved security and performance.
